Introduction

The Tasmanian Government's Youth Jobs Strategy aims to improve youth engagement in employment, further education and training by creating a smooth, supported and connected transition from school. It will make recommendations that better connect and coordinate services and supports so that all young Tasmanians can access the help and support they need to get into work.

This discussion paper provides context for the development of the Strategy, the Government’s planned approach, and the key themes and issues that have emerged through stakeholder consultation activities to date. The paper also poses direct questions to enable members of the community to provide feedback on specific issues and potential solutions to inform the development of the Strategy’s recommendations.

The Youth Jobs Strategy is a collaboration between the Department of State Growth (Jobs Tasmania) and the Department for Education, Children and Young People.
