The Australian and Tasmanian governments have committed $55 million to upgrade the South Arm Highway.

We are currently developing a design for the upgrade between Pass Road and Oakdowns Parade, which includes two key sections:

Pass Road to Bayview Secondary College: Expanding the road by an extra two lanes from Pass Road, Rokeby to Bayview Secondary College.

Bayview Secondary College to Oakdowns: Building a new four-lane road south-west of South Arm Road and the Rokeby Commercial Area, between Bayview Secondary College and Horsham Road.

The project will improve traffic flow, travel time reliability, and road safety for eastern shore communities travelling to Hobart’s CBD.
