Audit Details
On 6 March 2023, an audit was conducted on the Channel Highway, between Margate and Verona Sands. The assessed section (length from Margate to Verona Sands) is approximately 39.2 kilometres long.
In the decade prior to the audit, there were six motorcycle crashes that resulted in serious injuries, and one crash that resulted in a fatality on this section of road. Additionally, 13 motorcyclists were involved in crashes and received minor injuries or required first aid.
The audit brought together experienced motorcyclists, road managers and stakeholders to identify solutions to improve road safety outcomes for motorcyclists. A small group rode the route to record data about the ride. A larger group of stakeholders and experts then came together for a workshop and experts then came together for a workshop to discuss the findings from the ride.
