Audit Details
On 19 March 2024, an audit was conducted on the Tasman Highway, between St Helens and Scottsdale. During this audit the route was assessed to determine improvements that could be made to make the road safer for motorcyclists.
The Tasman Highway was selected due to its popularity and taking into consideration the crash history of the route. In the last 10 years, there has been 54 motorcycle crashes including one fatality, 23 serious injuries and 22 minor injuries.
The audit brought together experienced motorcyclists, road managers and stakeholders to identify solutions to improve road safety outcomes for motorcyclists. A small group rode the route to record data about the ride. A larger group of stakeholders and experts then came together for a workshop to discuss the findings from the ride.
Following the audit, a schedule of works for the recommended infrastructure treatments is being developed.

Infrastructure works are yet to be scheduled for the Tasman Highway, they are estimated to commence early 2025.
